What appliance removal costs
Appliances are priced by the space they take, like everything else. A washing machine is about 1 cubic yard ($125) and a single-door refrigerator about 2 cubic yards ($175). Refrigerators, freezers and AC units contain refrigerant (Freon), and washers, dryers and TVs need special handling, so they carry an additional disposal surcharge. We tell you the full price during the free estimate, before any work starts.
Why fridges need special handling
Federal rules require refrigerant to be recovered by a certified facility before a fridge, freezer or AC unit can be scrapped. See the EPA's appliance disposal rules. We take care of that for you, so you don't have to find a recycler that will accept it.
Before we arrive
- Empty the fridge or freezer and let it defrost if you can.
- Unplug it. For gas stoves, gas dryers and water heaters, have the gas shut off and capped first.
- Shut off water lines to washers and fridges with ice makers.

How pricing works
