Where to Donate Furniture in Reno & Sparks

Which local charities take furniture, what they turn down, and what to do with the pieces they won't accept.

In Reno and Sparks, you can donate furniture in good condition at Salvation Army thrift stores, Habitat for Humanity ReStores and other local thrift shops, or give it away to neighbors online. Most charities only take clean, undamaged pieces, and many don't pick up. Here's how to find the right place.

Salvation Army thrift stores

The Salvation Army accepts furniture and household items at its Reno and Sparks stores. It doesn't offer donation pickup, so you'll need to drop items off. Donations stop 30 minutes before closing.

  • 1925 Sutro St., Reno, NV 89512
  • 2300 Valley Rd., Reno, NV 89512
  • 650 E. Prater Way, Sparks, NV 89431

They don't accept tube TVs and their entertainment centers, pool tables, pianos and organs, large wooden desks, paint, chemicals or tires.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

ReStores sell donated furniture, appliances and building materials to fund Habitat homes. Habitat's national guidelines say furniture should be lightly used, appliances should be under 10 years old and working, and mattresses aren't accepted. Call the nearest ReStore to confirm what it's taking right now.

Give it away locally

Free listings on Facebook Marketplace, Nextdoor, Craigslist or a local Buy Nothing group are often the quickest way to rehome a dresser, table or bookshelf. Include measurements and clear photos, and ask the person picking up to bring help.
