Lockwood Regional Landfill is at 2700 E. Mustang Rd. in Sparks, NV 89434, off I-80 at exit 23 (Mustang), and is open Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, according to Waste Management's Reno service guide. It sits in Storey County, about 10 miles east of Reno, and is the main landfill for the Reno–Sparks area. On Saturdays it closes for lunch from 12:30 to 1 PM. Cards are accepted; cash is not.

What you can bring
Lockwood takes household trash, furniture, appliances, yard waste and construction debris. Paint, chemicals, fuel and other household hazardous waste need special handling. WM accepts some of these for an extra fee, so ask before you load them.
Closer options in Reno
For most Reno households, a transfer station is closer than the landfill. The Commercial Row Transfer Station (1390 E. Commercial Row) is open seven days a week, and the Stead Transfer Station (13890 Mt. Anderson St.) serves the North Valleys Tuesday through Saturday. Tips for a landfill run
- Cover and tie down your load before you get on I-80.
- Arrive well before 4:30 PM. Saturdays can get busy.
- Unload heavy items first, and wear gloves and sturdy shoes.
- Separate cardboard and metal. WM's free Eco-Center on E. Commercial Row takes recycling.
